existing refugee camps, formal or informal, are generally prone to diseases and seen as detestable. uninspired by current political remedies of refugee camps we set out to propose and situate networks of fragmented spaces of refuge, starting in hellemmes, lille, france as a test/prototype site. our hopes and visions are for this network to extend beyond this neighborhood, throughout the country and possibly the continent. more importantly, we seek to alter the perception and image of refugees, who make up a subset of any nation's popultion. to acheive this, we propose to dissolve the boundary and visible territory of these settlements by fragmenting their constituents and rendering them invisible; essential elements for survival masquerade as urban artifacts or hide within excessive space intrinsic to urban fabric. subsequently, basic needs and temporary refuge can be offered to migrants en route to a better life
